Facebook is such a huge part of our lives today. We use Facebook to talk to friends, family, co-workers, teachers; just about anyone can communicate with someone else on Facebook.
My ethnography is essentially going to discuss the differences between a real community and Facebook, an online one. I want to focus on how people communicate with each other, especially how people communicate so casually on the internet. I want to figure out why people are more comfortable talking online than they are talking face-to-face with certain people. The internet is such a fascinating thing, and people think that when they are hiding behind their computer screen that they can act like a different person. I want to know why!
I plan on figuring that out as well as figuring out why people choose to use the social networking site, as well as many other things that I know I will discover along the way.
In the meantime, I'm going to be hanging out with Mark discussing what we can do to make Facebook better for all of my friends.
